About Tallypic
Tallypic is a free web tool that counts objects in a photo. Choose what you're counting, take or upload a picture, and every object it finds is marked so you can check the number before you rely on it.
Why we built it
Counting by hand is slow and easy to get wrong: bundles of rebar arriving on site, tablets on a pharmacy tray, colonies on a plate, seeds in a germination test. Most counting apps give you a number and ask you to trust it.
Tallypic takes a different approach. The count is only the starting point; the markers are the result. You can see exactly what was counted, add what was missed, remove what shouldn't be there, and save an image that shows the total, the object type and the date.
How it counts
Instead of one generic detector, Tallypic uses 135 counting models, each trained for a specific kind of object, from steel pipes and screws to capsules and shrimp fry. Picking the closest type is what makes the count reliable.
Photos are resized in your browser and sent to a third-party image recognition service, which returns the position of each object. Tallypic draws the markers and lets you correct them. Nothing is counted from objects the camera can't see, so stacked or hidden items still need a manual check.

Free to use
Tallypic works in any modern browser on a phone or a computer. There's no app to install and no watermark on saved images. You can count without signing up; a free account keeps your results in a history and gives you more free counts each day. The sample photos can be opened as often as you like.
